‘No docus’, halt work on Colaba jetty, say residents | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Days after work on construction of a jetty at Colaba began, the Clean and Heritage Colaba Resident Association (CHCRA), represented by its legal counsel, advocate Prerak Choudhary, demanded that Maharashtra Maritime Board cease all work on the project until critical documents are provided and a follow-up meeting is held.
In a letter to minister for Ports & Fisheries Development, Nitesh Rane, and the CEO of the maritime board, Choudhary stated residents’ concerns, stating that assurances made at a meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan last month were not honoured.
According to Choudhary, it was agreed at the meeting, attended speaker and local MLA Rahul Narwekar, with Colaba residents, that work would not begin until detailed technical documents, including a traffic simulation study and structural assessments, were shared with the community. Residents said work had begun, causing anxiety among locals. Residents’ attempt to seek clarity from authorities allegedly resulted in incorrect assurances that documents were already shared. TNN
