NEW DELHI: Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara announced Tuesday that no complaints have been registered regarding the alleged honey trapping controversy and phone tapping incidents in the state, while a minister claimed to be a victim and plans to file a complaint, prompting the Supreme Court to agree to hear a PIL seeking an independent probe into the matter.
“So far, no complaint has been registered yet,” Parameshwara told reporters regarding the honey trapping allegations.

On the phone tapping issue, Parameshwara stated he had verified with the concerned department and found no registered complaints.
“No one has filed a complaint with me so far. Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, has also made a statement. I have verified with the concerned department that no complaint has been registered yet,” he said.
Addressing deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar‘s recent Constitution statement, Parameshwara said, “Shivakumar has already clarified that his statement has been twisted.”
Karnataka minister KN Rajanna, claiming to be a honey trap victim, stated, “Today, I am going to file a complaint by meeting the home minister in person.”
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation seeking an independent probe by the CBI or SIT into alleged honey trapping of legislators, public servants, and judges in Karnataka.
The petition was filed by Jharkhand resident Binay Kumar Singh through advocate Barun Sinha, requesting the apex court to monitor the investigation either directly or through a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
Earlier, cooperation minister KN Rajanna alleged that 48 people across party lines, including state and national leaders, had fallen victim to honey traps, with their obscene videos being circulated.
The petition highlighted serious allegations made in the Karnataka state legislature. “There were very serious and troubling allegations made on the floor of the Karnataka state legislature that a person aspiring to be the chief minister of the state has been successful in honeytrapping several persons, amongst whom are judges. The allegations have been made by a sitting minister who has claimed himself to be a victim, thereby lending credibility to the serious allegations,” it stated.
