Nitish Kumar directs officials to ensure bridge upkeep in Bihar | Patna News – Times of India



Patna: Worried by frequent incidents of bridge collapse in Bihar, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday held a review meeting with officials of the road construction department (RCD) and rural works department (RWD) and directed them to initiate proper measures for their maintenance.
As many as nine bridges have collapsed across the state in the last fortnight. On Wednesday, three more bridges collapsed in Siwan and Saran districts of Bihar.Two of the bridges collapsed over Gandaki ‘chhadi’ (rivulet), one near Deoria village and the other close to Nautan Sikandarpur village. Both happened in Maharajganj block of Siwan district. The third bridge collapsed in Janata Bazaar block of Saran district. One of the bridge that fell in Siwan district was built in 1982-83 and the other in 1998.
