Nitish asks DGP to ensure speedy probe into murder of Sahani’s father

Patna: The murder of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani’s septuagenarian father Jitan Sahani at his ancestral home in Darbhanga on Tuesday triggered frontal attacks by the Opposition on the ruling NDA regime, alleging “collapse” of law and order situation in the state, even as chief minister Nitish Kumar has asked the DGP to investigate the case.Former Bihar minister Sahani’s VIP is now a part of the opposition INDIA bloc.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar, in whose cabinet Sahani served as a minister before returning to the opposition camp, called him up to offer condolences and ensure speedy investigation. “The CM has asked the DGP to investigate the case and ensure tough action against the culprits,” a statement issued by the chief minister’s office said.

JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said police investigation is on and that the culprits would be caught even from the hell.
Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary of the BJP said the accused would be put behind bars. “The govt stands with Mukesh Sahani’s family,” he said.
Expressing shock, Union ministers Jitan Ram Manjhi and Chirag Paswan also demanded immediate action against the culprits.
Leading the charge in the opposition camp, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, said “Aatank Raj has been established in the state.” “The incident explains the state has come in the tight grip of terror rule,” Tejashwi said, adding the situation had come to such a sorry passé as the “tired and retired officers are handling the law and order”.
Expressing serious concern over the incident, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, asked the state govt to take a serious note of it and provide justice to the Sahani family. “I expect the Bihar govt will ensure strongest possible punishment to the culprits at the earliest and justice to the grieving Sahani family,” Gandhi wrote on X.
Strongly condemning the incident, his sister and Congress functionary Priyanka Gandhi said the horrific incident explains the law and order situation has “completely collapsed in Bihar and that none is safe in the Jungle Raj”.
Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, described the present situation in the state as the typical case of “Nero playing flute while Rome was burning”. “Kya yahi susashan hai (Is this good governance),” he asked, alleging the state has come in the grip of the criminals.
The CPI-ML asked the govt to act on the law and order front. “There has been a sudden increase in the incidents of organised crimes in Bihar post Lok Sabha elections, which is a matter of serious worry,” CPI-ML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said.
