Night temp to gradually rise: Met office | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Patna Meteorological Centre announced on Sunday that the night temperature in the state would gradually rise by 3-4°C in the coming days, providing some relief from the ongoing cold. This change is due to the weakening of westerlies as no major western disturbances have occurred in the north-Indian mountainous regions recently.
“As per the latest numerical model, no western disturbance is being visible as of now and even the mountainous regions have remained dry for the last few days. The last snowfall in the said regions left its impact on Bihar in the form of cool winds and the westerlies continue to exercise their control in the state, leading to the fall in temperature witnessed across various places,” the weather bulletin said.
However, the report added that due to a change in wind direction and the absence of western disturbances over an extended period, the cooling capacity of the westerlies has weakened. “At the same time, sufficient sunlight during the daytime, thanks to clear skies, will help raise the temperature slightly in the coming days,” it added.
The weather department also cautioned that shallow to moderate fog is likely to prevail in most places across the state till December 17. Meanwhile, Sunday’s weather recorded a minimum temperature of 4.3°C at Jamui and a maximum of 27.1°C at Gopalganj. In Patna, the maximum temperature was 23.2°C while the minimum stood at 10.2°C. The Met office predicted “dry weather most likely” in Bihar for the next week.
