Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against a CPI(Maoist) activist for his alleged involvement in extorting money from businessmen in Aurangabad district and spreading the violent ideology of the banned organisation, a lawyer familiar with the case said here on Tuesday.
Anil Yadav, alias Chhota Sandeep, who is a native of Aurangabad district, has been named in the supplementary chargesheet submitted before the NIA special court here on Monday, the lawyer said.As per the chargesheet, Sandeep had conducted a meeting at Mahi village in Aurangabad district on June 8, 2023, with the purpose of conspiring to collect levy from business establishments, contractors and toll plazas.
The NIA, in its report, has alleged that Sandeep is involved in raising funds by collecting levy from local brick kiln owners and contractors in collaboration with four other Maoists — Pramod Mishra, Rohit Rai, Ankush and Pramod Yadav — against whom a chargesheet was already registered on September 26, 2023. They are also accused of attempting to revive the banned CPI(Maoist) ideology in Aurangabad and neighbouring Gaya districts.
The NIA has also informed the special court about the past criminal records of Sandeep. At least four criminal cases have been registered against him at different police stations in Aurangabad and Gaya districts, the NIA told the court.
