NHA officials assured to fill potholes on Shahad bridge after motorists complained

ULHASNAGAR: After the embarrassment caused by the bad condition of the road due to potholes on the Shahad Bridge, part of National Highway 61 connecting Kalyan city with Ulhasnagar city, the National Highway Authority has assured to immediately fill the potholes on this bridge.
After a video of the several motorists facing inconvenience due to potholes on the bridge went viral on the social media, local MLA Kumar Ailani called a meeting with NHA officials on Tuesday and inspected the bridge with them.
During this, the NHA officials assured to temporarily fill the potholes on the bridge as soon as possible. National Highway Executive Engineer Jyoti Shinde said that Rs 12 crore has been allocated for the road work of this bridge. After the rain stops, work will be done on the entire bridge. Until then, Shinde assured to fill the potholes in view of the inconvenience to the people.
It may be recalled that the Shahad Bridge passes above the Shahad Railway Station of Ulhasnagar city. Since this bridge is part of the National Highway, it always experiences heavy traffic of motorists going other cities.
Apart from this, the bridge also connects Kalyan to areas like Ulhasnagar, Titwala, and Murbad. In such a situation, the condition of this road has deteriorated significantly due to potholes amid heavy rains, causing considerable inconvenience to people traveling on it.
Ailani told TOI, “Since the city has been witnessing heavy rain for the past few days, NHA officials have assured to find a temporary solution to the potholes soon by filling them. Apart from this, after the rain stops, the entire bridge road will be built at a cost of Rs 12 crore.”
