Koraput: Bodies of a newly-wed couple were found hanging from a tree at Paikakupakhal village under Andirakanch police limits in Rayagada district on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Abhi Jhodia and his wife Amita Jhodia, who tied the knot just seven months ago, said police.Going by preliminary inquiry, police said while the cause of deaths remains unclear, the bodies have been recovered. Though no sign of foul play have been confirmed, the circumstances surrounding the deaths have raised suspicions. We are examining all angles and details will be known once we complete our probe, said sub-divisional police officer (Rayagada) Gourahari Sahu. According to sources, Abhi was the son of Kamadev Jhodia, and Amita was the daughter of Shuadhar Jhodia. The couple had been living together following their marriage, but villagers claim that the two had been facing disputes in recent days. This has led to speculation that the couple may have taken the extreme step.Interestingly, both families have submitted written statements to the police, claiming that no one should be held responsible for the deaths.
