Hyderabad: The new Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will be in place in the next couple of days, but cabinet expansion may take a while longer. This was stated by chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday while talking to reporters in New Delhi.
“As of now, we have not discussed cabinet expansion, but it would be done with the high command’s guidance,” the chief minister said. “The various permutations and combinations would be decided by the high command. But the TPCC is, more or less, finalised.”
Revanth, along with deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud were in Delhi to invite AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge to Telangana for a public meeting celebrating the SC sub-categorisation.
Revanth and others presented a report on the new decisions taken by the Congress govt in the state to Kharge. Sources told TOI that Kharge appreciated the decisions, noting these were difficult moves that would yield positive results in the long run. On Thursday, Revanth and the leaders met AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and informed about the govt’s decisions.
When asked about the investigations against opposition leaders, he responded, “We will follow set procedures. Why should we rush to send anyone to jail? Let the law take its course. The investigation is on.” The state govt is probing the alleged illegal transfer of Rs 55 crore to the Formula E Organisation under the previous BRS govt and has made former minister K T Rama Rao as the key accused.
The chief minister emphasised that he was doing his best to find permanent solutions to many long pending problems. “We have completed the caste survey in a highly scientific manner,” he said. “I hope that the Muslim reservation issue will be resolved through this survey. I don’t act independently. The party high command is aware of every decision we make, and I follow my leaders.”
Meanwhile, Congress has suspended party leader from Yellareddy, E Subash Reddy, on grounds of indiscipline. Recently, he was served a show-cause notice for his harsh comments against party MLA Madan Mohan Rao. The party found his explanation unsatisfactory and suspended him.
