New reservoir inaugurated in Rahamat Nagar | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: In an effort to improve water availability, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) opened a new Rs 5.7 crore reservoir at SPR Hills in the Rahamat Nagar division on Saturday.This development will address water shortages in 52 bastis and many colonies within the Borabanda and Rahamat Nagar divisions under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The facility will distribute three million litres of water per day to 15,000 connections across the 52 bastis in both divisions.Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that, in order to address the city’s water crisis, the tender process for supplying 20 TMC of water, valued at Rs 7,000 crore, had been finalised as part of the Godavari Phase II and III projects.Union minister G Kishan Reddy emphasised that the city had not received any additional water allocation over the past decade. He highlighted the urgent need to improve water distribution to support the city’s rapid development and expansion.
