New police station, police reserve office opened
Keonjhar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Town police station, built at a cost of Rs 3.34 crore, and a reserve police office, constructed for Rs 2.77 crore.
The new police station is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including 24-hour CCTV surveillance, modern armoury, wireless communication rooms, and comprehensive fire safety systems. Special attention has been given to public convenience with the inclusion of a reception centre and dedicated spaces for community interaction, including access for differently-abled persons and a women and child help desk.
“Since assuming office, we have prioritised the strengthening of law enforcement infrastructure. Our goal is to ensure that every police station in the state is equipped with modern facilities and resources,” the CM said.
In a boost to police mobility, Majhi also flagged off 17 SUVs and 80 motorcycles for police personnel. “These vehicles will enhance our force’s ability to respond swiftly to emergencies and maintain law and order effectively,” said DGP Y B Khurania, who was also present at the event.
The CM also announced plans to create 32,000 new positions in the police force, with recruitment for 16,000 positions already underway. “This expansion will significantly enhance our police force’s capabilities,” he added.
Addressing police personnel, CM Majhi stressed the importance of treating citizens with respect and empathy. He warned that any negligence in registering complaints or handling public grievances would lead to strict action.
DGP Khurania assured that the new facilities would improve police efficiency and service delivery. “These modern amenities will enable our personnel to serve the public better while maintaining high standards of law enforcement,” he said.
