New directive to simplify registration process for pre-2017 buildings | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Easing the registration of sale deeds for apartments further, the state revenue and disaster management department on Monday asked the inspector general of revenue to promptly start the registration process without denial at the sub-registrar level.
The order by the revenue department came in the backdrop of the Feb 1 notification issued by the housing and urban development department, which paved the way for sale deed registration of apartments completed before Feb 2017.
“I am to say that the housing and urban development department issued a notification regarding the registration of apartments wherein all the registering officers of the state were instructed to register the apartments which were completed before the implementation of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Act in the state,” read the order.
The order issued by the department’s additional secretary Diganta Routroy read, “You are requested to comply with the Feb 1 notification of the housing and urban development department wherein the registering officers of the state are requested not to deny registration of apartments citing the provisions of the Odisha Apartment (Ownership and Management) Act of 2023, if the apartments were completed before the commencement of the RERA, that is Feb 25, 2017.”
Notably, the housing and urban development department had on Feb 1 issued a notification and sought the cooperation of the revenue and disaster management department in this matter. The step comes amid reports of apartment owners facing difficulties in registering sale and transfer deeds due to perceived ambiguities in the Acts.
