Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: Artists paint Netaji’s legacy at museum | Bhubaneswar News
Cuttack: Twenty prominent artists from across Odisha gathered at Netaji Birthplace Museum in Cuttack on Tuesday to commemorate the legendary freedom fighter’s life through art, ahead of his birth anniversary on Jan 23.
The initiative, organised by the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, features artists creating works that capture pivotal moments from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose‘s life and his enduring legacy.
“This initiative will also inspire younger generations to understand and appreciate the values he stood for,” said Ashwini Satpathy, curator of Netaji Birthplace Museum.
“My painting depicts a table, a suitcase with a twinkling letter, and a flight above — symbolizing the mystery surrounding Netaji’s death,” said Sanjuktarani Dash from Puri district.
Cuttack-based artist Kanchi Prasad Mallick’s work features Netaji’s portrait within a question mark, symbolising the enigma of his life. “Netaji was a powerful visionary who had a unique approach to India’s independence struggle. It’s a privilege to paint at his birthplace,” Mallick said.
The completed artworks will be unveiled on Jan 23 coinciding with Netaji’s birth anniversary. The exhibition, open to the public, aims to foster patriotism and honour the freedom fighter’s contributions to India’s independence movement.
