Bhubaneswar: A prolonged dispute over placement of a wooden fence between two neighbours took a tragic turn, resulting in the murder of a woman in Cuttack on Friday. Her neighbour, Santosh Sinha, has been arrested.
The body of Priyatama Dalei (35) was found at her residence in Potapokhari in Gandhipalli area with her throat slit. Assistant commissioner of police (Zone-1) Arun Kumar Swain said there were previous confrontations between Priyatama and Santosh regarding the boundary fence between their houses.
“Our investigations revealed frequent disputes between the two over the fence. Following a verbal confrontation in the morning, the accused, in an angry outburst, attacked the woman with a sharp object,” Swain said. Santosh’s elderly mother suffered serious injuries while attempting to rescue Priyatama after hearing her cries for help.
