NDA to sweep assembly polls: Jaiswal

Patna: Newly appointed Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal on Monday stressed the need to energize and fortify the state unit of the party in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a gathering at the state BJP headquarters, Jaiswal, who also serves as the minister for revenue and land reforms, promised to honour party workers, describing them as “devtulya” (divine) and akin to the “roots of a tree” that strengthen the entire organization. He vowed to uphold the dignity of the grassroots workers, recalling his own journey as a party member.
Jaiswal made these remarks at a felicitation function upon returning from Delhi, where he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders. He expressed gratitude for his new role and acknowledged the big responsibility it entails. The function saw addresses from several prominent BJP netas, including Nand Kishore Yadav, ministers Mangal Pandey and Nityanand Rai, legislative council chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh and deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
Jaiswal highlighted the twin challenges of rebuilding the party and winning the 2025 assembly elections. He expressed confidence that the NDA, with active worker participation and guidance from party veterans, would secure a majority.
Jaiswal’s predecessor Choudhary said, “I can say that no party has given me as much respect as the BJP. First, I was made state president of the BJP and then deputy CM.”
In response to past grievances, including the exclusion of Vaishya (trader) caste candidates and the loss of seats previously held by BJP, Dhaka MLA Pawan Kumar Jaiswal led a welcoming procession for Jaiswal, complete with drums, a horse and flower petals. Jaiswal assured that the party would address these concerns and compensate affected groups in the forthcoming elections.
The celebratory mood was evident as Jaiswal received a warm reception from Patna airport to the state headquarters of the party, with both deputy CMs accompanying him on a decorated truck through the sweltering heat.
