NEW DELHI: The Narcotics Control Bureau has exposed a drug syndicate and seized various banned substances worth about Rs 200 crore from Navi Mumbai after arresting four persons, an official said on Friday.
According to an official from the NCB’s Mumbai zonal unit, an international group is managing the drug operation, with some narcotics being imported from the US via courier services, cargo shipments and human carriers.
The authorities intercepted 200 grams of cocaine from a package destined for Australia in the previous month. By tracing the drug’s origin to Navi Mumbai, they successfully dismantled the operation.
Last week, NCB officials conducted a raid in Navi Mumbai, seizing premium-grade cocaine weighing 11.54 kg, along with hydroponic weed and cannabis gummies (200 packets weighing 5.5 kg).
The total value of the seized substances is estimated at Rs 200 crore.
The operation resulted in four arrests. The investigation revealed that the syndicate members used code names during their drug-related communications.
The official stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover additional connections within the network.
