Navi Mumbai puppies crushed by JCB: 3 puppies crushed under JCB as Panvel civic body clears hawkers | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Navi Mumbai: Three puppies were crushed to death under a JCB during a hawker removal drive by Panvel City Municipal Corporation at Kharghar, Sector 14. While an FIR was lodged against the JCB operator at Kharghar police station, activists are demanding that names of the civic officials in charge also be included in the complaint.
Head of People for Animals NGO, Vijay Rangare, said: “Witnesses said vendors were doing business on the road on Tuesday when PCMC officials and workers came to remove them. Despite telling the JCB operator there were animals in their crates, the JCBcrushed the crates. A few puppies were asleep in one crate, and three died.”
Rangareadded: “On Wednesday evening, we urged the police to add BNS section 325 for intentionally killing animals of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. If PCMC officials ordered the JCB to drive over the puppies, they too should be made accused in this case.”
Ward officer, J Madvi told TOI: “The hawkers were warned not to do business on the road but they did not listen. Workers were not aware of puppies in the crate.”
