Naveen calls for fight against Polavaram | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: With BJD president Naveen Patnaik Saturday giving a call to party leaders to intensify fight against the Polavaram project as it affects the lives of people of Malkangiri, the BJP, state unit, said the opposition party is against development.
Naveen’s strong call came after he was briefed by the BJD delegation on Saturday. He said BJD would leave no stone unturned to safeguard the interest of the Malkangiri people and initiate appropriate action in due course of time, after getting feedback from govt authorities.
The delegation apprised Patnaik of their recent visit to New Delhi from December 3 to 5, where they held crucial discussions with key officials and ministers about the ongoing concerns surrounding the Polavaram project.
During their visit, the BJD delegation met Union jal shakti minister CR Patil. He assured the delegation that the concerns raised by Odisha regarding the Polavaram project would be seriously addressed.
The BJP countered Naveen’s statement and said BJD is spreading lies. “They are saying three blocks will be submerged with the execution of the project, but in reality, only eight revenue villages will be affected where adequate compensation will be paid,” said BJP MP Balabhadra Majhi.
