Nationwide Highway Encroachments Demand Urgent Legal Action, Says Saran MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy | Patna News – Times of India

Chhapra: Saran MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy recently told the Supreme Court that encroachment on the highways is not just a problem in the state but the entire country and demanded strict actions against the perpetrators.
Rudy – who argues on public interest litigation occasionally – appeared before the court of Justice Abhay S. Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih Thursday.
He demanded that the rules for removing the obstacles that comprise road safety be strengthened and sped up. “Encroachment on highways happens in three stages. The first stage is when the land is marked for highway construction, the second stage is illegal construction while the roads are being built or repaired, and the third is encroachment followed by construction after the completion of the project,” Rudy told the SC.
He pleaded that the DM of the concerned area be included in the committee and held accountable for the encroachment on the road.
