National Commission for Minorities seeks report on Vishalgad violence | Mumbai News – Times of India


Mumbai: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) sought a detailed report from state chief secretary Sujata Saunik over the Vishalgad violence. The report expected by Aug 13 will be placed before NCM chairperson Iqbal Singh Lalpura.
The NCM notice comes on the complaint filed by the Samajwadi Party MLA, Rais Shaikh. He welcomed the NCM notice to the state govt.“I am happy to see that the NCM has taken cognisance of my complaint on the atrocities and grievous injuries meted out to the Muslim community by the extreme right-wing organisations under the garb of demolition,” said Shaikh.
Shaikh said that the community has lost confidence in the Maharashtra police as they were a mute spectator when the atrocities were carried out by the extreme right-wing organisations at Vishalgad in Kolhapur.
