Nadda asks party MPs, MLAs to strengthen grassroots connect, maintain humility | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: BJP president JP Nadda on Saturday called upon the party’s MLAs and MPs from Odisha to strengthen their grassroots connection and maintain humility in public service. Speaking at a training session of BJP elected representatives in Puri, Nadda, in his around one and a half-hour address, emphasised the importance of shedding arrogance, building personal credibility among constituents and associating with development works.
BJP Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said the party chief explained what the party members should do and what they shouldn’t do. “The key takeaway is that in the days to come, we need to work more for the people, stay connected with them, remain positive, keep smiling, and align ourselves with development,” she said.
Nadda highlighted the party’s extensive political presence across India, stating that the NDA currently governs 19 out of 35 states and Union territories, with the BJP independently ruling 13 of them. BJP emphasised its status as the world’s largest political party, citing the recent membership drive that brought in around 13.5 crore new members, including 3.5 crore women.
“Our lawmakers must maintain strong grassroots connections to retain public confidence,” Nadda said, urging elected representatives to actively engage with their constituencies. The BJP president called for unity among party members, stressing the importance of the party’s cadre-based structure and its foundational principles. “Personal egos must be set aside for the greater good of the party,” he added, emphasising collaborative effort in furthering the party’s agenda.
The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s organisational structure and implementing its ideological framework at all levels of governance. After BJP govt came into power in Odisha, this was the first training camp organised in state where all MPs and MLAs were invited. Saturday was the second of the three-day training programme.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Union ministers Jual Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, besides state BJP president Manmohan Samal, attended it. Jual said BJP has been consistently providing training at booth, mandal and district levels. “Apart from training by expert trainers, there was an exchange of ideas among colleagues in Puri,” he said.
