Mystery surrounds death of 3 children in Ameenpur | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident in Ameenpur in Sangareddy district, three children were found dead under mysterious circumstances in the early hours of Friday. Their mother, Rajitha, 38, was rushed to a hospital in Patancheru, where she is undergoing treatment.
According to neighbours, Chennaiah, 40, the children’s father, raised an alarm at around 2.30 am, calling for help as his wife’s condition had deteriorated. “He kept shouting that his wife needed urgent medical attention and that he had found his three children dead in the house,” a neighbour recounted.
Rajitha was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared her condition stable. The bodies of the three children—a 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl, and an eight-year-old boy—were sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The cause of the children’s deaths remains unknown, but police suspect poisoning. Rajitha told investigators that they had curd rice for dinner on Thursday night. When questioned further, she responded vaguely, saying, “Why, what happened.” She claimed to have purchased the curd from a local shop. Police are also interrogating Chennaiah to gather more details.
Meanwhile, doctors at the hospital requested neighbours to check for traces of poison at the family’s house, but nothing suspicious was found. “It is too early to conclude what happened. The investigation is in its initial stages. The post-mortem reports of the children will provide more clarity,” said district superintendent of police Parthosh Pankaj.
According to sources, the family had dinner together on Thursday night.
While Rajitha and the children ate curd rice, Chennaiah had rice with dal. Since Chennaiah is a water tank driver, he received a call for a delivery and left home, returning around 11 pm. After 11 pm, they went to bed.
Around 2 am, Rajitha woke up complaining of stomach pain. As Chennaiah tried to help her, he discovered the children unresponsive and immediately sought help from neighbours.
“He was in shock and pleaded with us to save his wife at least,” said a neighbour.
Investigators are also probing the family’s domestic situation. Rajitha was Chennaiah’s second wife, as his first wife had died during childbirth. Her relatives alleged that Chennaiah harassed her and that she had left him multiple times, only to return after his repeated apologies.
