Patna: A 40-year-old labourer and his nephew were found dead under suspicious circumstances in their rented house under Malsalami police station area of Patna late on Friday night. The deceased were identified as Ravi Kumar Das and Sonal Kumar Das (24), residents of Barh, adjacent to Patna.
Family members of the deceased told police that both used to consume alcohol, and they suspect that drinking alcohol could have led to their death. However, the police said no liquor bottle or any toxic drink was found in their room.
According to police, both worked as daily wage labourers and used to live on rent in the house of one Bablu Singh in East Nand Gola area of Patna City. The house owner went to their room on Friday evening, but was shocked to see their bodies lying on the bed. Upon getting information, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies to NMCH-Patna for postmortem.
SHO of Malsalami police station, Rajkumar Singh, said there were no external or visible injury marks on their bodies. “The forensic team was called on Saturday morning, and they collected evidences from the spot. No evidence of any foul play has been found yet. The actual reason of the death will be known once the medical report comes,” he said.
He further added: “At present, the possibility of death due to drug consumption is being suspected. Further investigation is ongoing.”
