MVA’s social engineering in South Mumbai as Samajwadi Party MLA visits Shiv Sena (UBT) shakha | Mumbai News – Times of India
MUMBAI: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is putting social engineering to use in South Mumbai ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. In a unique initiative of social engineering, Rais Shaikh Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA has started visiting Shiv Sena (UBT) Shakhas along with his party activists as part of the Lok Sabha election campaign for smooth integration of the Sena activists and the Muslim community.According to political observers, this is the first time in the recent past that the SP workers and Muslim activists have visited the Shiv Sena Shakha, starting a new chapter in the metropolitan city’s political history.
Last week Shaikh, former corporator and group leader in BMC, visited the Shiv Sena (UBT) shakha 212 in Byculla and interacted with the Shiv Sainiks for the Lok Sabha election campaign of Sena (UBT) candidate Arvind Sawant from South Mumbai. Vinod Shirke, Shiv Sena (UBT) Shakha Pramukh along with Shiv Sainiks were present on the occasion. “I along with my party activists visited the Shiv Sena shakha in Byculla. Workers of both parties interacted on various aspects related to the election campaign. We also discussed the campaign strategy for the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Arvind Sawant ji. Soon, I will be campaigning for Sawant ji to ensure his victory by a massive margin,” said Shaikh.
Shaikh said that soon the SP workers led by him will be on the streets in South Mumbai campaigning for Sawant. “Conventionally, there has been a bitter and hostile relationship between Shiv Sena and Muslim community in the city and the state. However, the times have changed, so the Shiv Sena and the Muslim community. This is a new beginning in the city’s politics which will certainly create history,” he added.
Shiv Sainiks said that they were overwhelmed by the support of the SP activists and the Muslim community. “The meeting between Shiv Sainiks and SP activists went well. We had a fruitful discussion on various issues. Certainly, this is for the first time in the recent past that SP workers or Muslim community members visited our Shakha,” said Shirke, Sena (UBT) Shakha Pramukh.
