Muz rape & killing case: Chirag writes to CM, demands action against guilty | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: As the rape and murder of a minor dalit girl from Muzaffarpur has triggered outrage, Union minister Chirag Paswan on Wednesday shot off a letter to CM Nitish Kumar, describing the incident as the “failure of the state’s law and order and public health infrastructure”. He sought stern action against the guilty persons.“This heart-wrenching incident is not only the brutal murder of an innocent life but also highlights the failure of our state’s law and order, social awareness, and public health system,” Chirag wrote in his two-page letter to the CM. The letter, dated June 3, was released to the media on Wednesday.Stating that the rape victim waited for hours to be admitted to the PMCH, Chirag said as much as the rapists, the doctors and administrative staff of the hospital are equally guilty. He said his party assured justice to the victim’s family. “But, until strict action is taken at both the govt and administrative levels against everyone responsible for this incident, justice will remain incomplete,” Chirag said.“This incident is not just the death of a girl; it has become a symbol of the failure of our ‘social system’ and the constitutional responsibility of the state. If the administration remains silent even in this situation, then this silence itself will become the greatest crime,” Chirag wrote, asking the CM to initiate quick action. He also sought a high-level judicial inquiry into the role of PMCH hospital administration, doctors, and staff. Further, he demanded registration of criminal cases against employees who delayed treatment and displayed inhumanity.Reacting to Chirag’s letter, JD(U) said the people of the state have deep faith in the “rule of law”. “We have nothing to comment on what one says, but we would like to inform you that soon after the incident, the accused was arrested while the govt initiated actions against erring health officials,” state JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said. He added the case would be speedily tried.
