Muz rape: Accused surrenders after police demolish property | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Muzaffarpur police on Thursday demolished the house and hotel of Mukesh Rai (37), who is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in the district on May 31. Under mounting pressure from the ongoing crackdown, Rai surrendered before the police.The demolition operation was carried out a few hours after deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha met with the victim’s family. During his visit, the Deputy CM assured the family of all possible assistance and justice, giving the district administration a 12-hour deadline to take necessary action against the accused.“The perpetrator is an enemy of humanity. Crime has no caste, and anyone showing sympathy towards such criminals will face consequences,” Sinha said.The incident took place on May 31 at a village, where the accused allegedly raped the minor girl. An FIR was registered at the women police station under the Pocso Act. Muzaffarpur SSP, Sushil Kumar, said, “After evading arrest for four days, Rai surrendered before the police on Thursday following the demolition of his house and hotel. The demolition was carried out after obtaining a warrant from a court.”Prior to this action, three police officers, including Turki police station SHO Pramod Kumar, sub-inspector Manzar Ahmad Khan and constable Salimuddin Faridi, were suspended by the SSP for negligence in handling the case and releasing the accused after initial questioning.
