Mumbai: A mutton shop owner was booked for storing 16 goats in a godown under repair in Jogeshwari (East), Jogeshwari police said. Charges were filed against Firoz Qureshi, 58, for illegally storing the goats and violating regulations.Authorities stated the case was registered for contravening rules that prohibit depositing rubbish, filth, and other polluting matter within a 10-km radius of an aerodrome reference point. Violations may lead to imprisonment, fines, or both. The investigation commenced on June 15 following a tip-off about the illegal butchering of goats at Munna Mutton Shop in Jogeshwari (East). Based on the information, the police team visited the location and discovered sixteen goats stored on the premises. “Qureshi was booked after he failed to produce the permission required for slaughtering of goats. He had only permission to sell goats,” the police stated.A police officer added that further investigation revealed the storage of the goats breached the law within a 10-kilometre radius of the aerodrome location.
