Murder sparks mob fury in city; vehicles set on fire | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A violent protest erupted on the Bihta-Ara main road on Friday following the murder of a young man near Neora in Patna district. Satyam Kumar, 22, a resident of Sikandarpur village, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Thursday evening. The protesters blocked the road and set vehicles on fire, demanding justice for Satyam.
According to Bihta SDPO Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Satyam had travelled to Patna with his sister for work.“He told his sister to take a train home as he would be delayed. Later in the evening, while Satyam was returning home on his bike, he was ambushed and shot in the stomach by assailants near Neora. Despite his injuries, Satyam managed to inform the police and his sister before losing consciousness. He was rushed to a private hospital in Patna, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” the SDPO added.
Satyam, who had recently secured a job at a private bank in Bengaluru, was the son of one Awadhesh Verma. Following his murder, enraged residents set vehicles on fire and blocked the road near Sikandarpur village, demanding action from the authorities concerned. They also voiced their anger at the police, administration and state govt.
