Murder over land row shocks Nawada village

Patna: A 56-year-old man, recently released from jail after serving time for a murder, succumbed to injuries following a brutal attack on Saturday at Jadupur Bhadaur village in Nawada district. The victim, identified as Girani Chaudhary, was allegedly assaulted over a long-standing land dispute.
Nardiganj police station personnel, accompanied by Sadar SDPO Sunil Kumar, visited the spot and sent the body for postmortem to sadar hospital. A forensic team also collected evidence from the site.
The SDPO said. “A land dispute between Girani and Vijay Choudhary began in 2020. Two years ago, a fight between their groups led to death of Vijay’s son. Girani was the prime accused in the case and was jailed. He was released on bail about four months ago,” Kumar said.
According to Girani’s daughter, the situation escalated on Saturday when three people broke into their home, allegedly attempting to molest her. “When I screamed, my father rushed in to protect me, but the men attacked him, leaving him severely injured. Neighbours arrived upon hearing the commotion, forcing the attackers to flee. My father was hospitalized but died later that night,” she said.
While police have yet to verify these claims, an FIR was lodged against four people based on statements from Girani’s family. “One of the accused, Mahendra Choudhary, has been arrested,” the SDPO said.
