Karnataka police investigate alleged murder conspiracy against Congress MLC KN Rajendra

BENGALURU: A special police team, led by a deputy duperintendent of police (DySP), has launched an investigation into the alleged murder conspiracy against Congress MLC KN Rajendra, who is also the son of Congress minister Rajanna.
Earlier, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Kyatasandra police station in Tumakuru against five men, including a rowdy-sheeter. The accused named in the FIR are Soma (rowdy-sheeter), Bharat, Amit, Gunda, and Yatish.
“Soon, we will subject the accused to questioning. Based on their statements, we will continue the investigation,” said a senior police officer.
On Thursday, Rajendra met State Top Cop Alok Mohan and submitted a written complaint. Following Mohan’s advice, Rajendra filed a formal complaint with the Tumakuru SP.
According to Rajendra, the gang took a supari for Rs 70 lakh to eliminate him and received Rs 5 lakh as an advance.
“They planned to kill me on November 16, a day before my daughter’s birthday celebrations at my Tumakuru residence. An audio clip I received in the first week of January confirmed the attempt,” Rajendra stated. He added that the suspects had come to his residence under the pretense of setting up a shamiyana.
Initially, the incident was suspected to be an attempt to honey trap Rajendra. However, the MLC later clarified that no honey trap attempt was made, but rather a conspiracy to kill him.
