Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple’s annual revenue rises to record Rs 133 crore, plans FD scheme for girls | Mumbai News – The Times of India

MUMBAI: Siddhivinayak temple trust, Prabhadevi, has reported record annual earnings of Rs 133 crore for the financial year 2024-25, a 14% increase over Rs 114 crore in 2023-24, executive officer Veena Patil said.
The managing committee led by trust chairman Sadanand Sarvankar presented its annual budget March 31.
Revenue is assessed from donations at the temple and online, puja rituals, sale of laddoo and nariyal wadi prasad, and gold-silver offerings. The monies are routed to the trust’s welfare activities.
Siddhivinayak deputy executive officer Sandeep Rathod said, “We have seen if queues move swiftly, more devotees can take darshan, increasing donations.”
Siddhivinayak plans FD scheme for girls
Siddhivinayak deputy executive officer Sandeep Rathod said ensuring queues move in an orderly fashion at the temple makes it a pleasant experience for devotees. “Also, at Siddhivinayak, each devotee gets 10-15 seconds for darshan which, according to me, is better than other large shrines which grant 5-7 seconds. As a result, people’s hearts are inclined to donate more,” he said. The temple expects its revenue to rise to Rs 154 crore in 2025-26.
“We do adjust revenue assessment for inflation. So, even though prices of food items have risen, gold prices have spiralled, we have actually seen more gold-silver items being auctioned. Prasad is sold on a no-profit-noloss basis,” Rathod said.
The trust has devised a new Siddhivinayak Bhagya lakshmi Scheme for the welfare of the girl child which it has despatched to the state govt for approval. Rathod said, “Under this proposal, the trust will deposit a sum of Rs 10,000 as fixed deposit for every female child born in civic hospitals on Women’s Day on March 8.
The FD will be deposited into the mother’s account. This is the first time any temple trust is likely undertaking such a venture. It will help further the Centre’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao slogan.”
Meanwhile, Siddhivinayak’s annual auction of gold offerings and silver coins held on Gudi Padwa on March 30 netted Rs 1.33 crore. “We received a robust response. In fact, devotees were bidding as they stood in darshan queues! Announcements were made well in advance, generating wider awareness,” he said.
