MUMBAI: A private tuition teacher has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old male student after blackmailing him online. Police have slapped charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against the teacher.
The accused, who is in his late twenties, created a fake Instagram profile in the name of a girl. He befriended the victim online through this fake profile and started chatting with him regularly. He asked the victim to share his nude images. The victim shared the images as he was under the impression that he was chatting with a girl his age.
Later, the tuition teacher showed the images to the victim and began to blackmail him. He repeatedly sexually assaulted the boy and filmed the act, threatening the child into silence.
The victim was traumatised with the incidents. Further, the accused complained to the student’s mother that he was not paying attention to studies and was texting young girls to harass them. The victim’s mother was taken aback and quizzed her son about it. The child told her that the tuition teacher was lying and that he had been sexually assaulting him.
The victim’s mother approached the police who gently quizzed the child and recorded a detailed statement. He was also taken for a medical examination. An FIR was registered against the accused and he was arrested.
The accused was produced before a sessions court and has been remanded to police custody. Investigators have seized his mobile phone which contains the images and videos of the child and have sent it for forensic examination.
