MUMBAI: Within 12 hours of a kidnapping case being reported, the LT Marg police personnel traced three accused and rescued a 30-year-old man who was kidnapped from Mumbai and taken to Pune. The accused had kidnapped and assaulted him over a financial dispute, said the police.
The incident occurred at around 2 am on Sunday. Police received information that four men had kidnapped a cloth broker, Hemantkumar Rawal, from the Cheera Bazar area near Kalbadevi.The accused had taken the victim in a car. A police team led by Senior Inspector Dnyaneshwar Wagh began the investigation and found the registration number of the car used in the crime. Police gathered technical intelligence and discovered the car was in Pune. A team was dispatched, and they rescued Rawal from the kidnappers. Three accused were arrested.
Police said that Rawal had allegedly taken money from one of the accused, promising to supply cloth for his Pune shop. However, he neither supplied the clothes nor returned the money. Further investigation is on.
