Mumbai police arrest 2 for threatening to bomb Eknath Shinde's car

MUMBAI: The Mumbai police have arrested two individuals from Buldhana in connection with an email threatening to bomb the car of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
The Goregaon Police Station received a threatening email, triggering an immediate response from law enforcement authorities. Upon receiving the alarming message, officials swiftly initiated security protocols and launched an investigation to trace the source of the threat.
In response to the email, an FIR was promptly registered under sections 351(3), 351(4), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with criminal intimidation and obstruction of duty by public servants.
The Mumbai Crime Branch, in collaboration with the Buldhana Police, successfully tracked down and apprehended two suspects in connection with the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mangesh Achyutrao Wayal (35) and Abhay Gajanan Shingane (22).
Both accused, Mangesh Achyutrao Wayal (35) and Abhay Gajanan Shingane (22), are residents of Deulgaon Mahi, Taluka Deulgaon Raja, in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district. The duo was apprehended from their hometown in a joint operation conducted by the Mumbai Crime Branch and Buldhana Police.
Threatening message was written in in Marathi
An email threatening to bomb the car of deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde was received by both Goregaon and J J Marg police stations on Thursday (February 20), triggering an immediate response from law enforcement authorities. The threatening message, written in Marathi, was identical in content in both emails sent to the two police stations.
According to police sources, similar emails have been sent to multiple recipients, raising concerns about the seriousness of the threat. Authorities are currently investigating the origin of the messages, analyzing digital traces, and working to identify the sender. Security measures have been intensified, and officials are treating the matter with utmost priority to ensure public safety.
“Today a mail threatening to bomb the car of DCM Eknath Shinde has been received in Goregaon and J J Marg police stations. Further enquiry and needful is being done,” DCP (Zone 1) Pravin Mundhe said to mediapersons on Thursday.
