Mumbai experiences dip in nighttime temperatures amidst unusually warm January days | Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Minimum temperatures in Mumbai dipped further on Saturday, reaching 16.2°C compared to 16.7°C the previous day.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures remained high. The IMD Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum of 35°C, which was 4.2°C above normal. However, this marked a slight decrease from Friday’s peak of 36°C. Mumbai’s warmest January day on record was logged in 2006 when temperatures hit 37.4°C.
While the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded minimum temperatures of 16.2°C, the IMD Colaba observatory recorded 20.5°C. This was almost close to normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded by the IMD Colaba observatory was 33.6°C, which was 3.3°C above normal.
In its forecast for Sunday, Jan 5, the IMD has said that maximum and minimum temperatures will be 36°C and 18°C, respectively. IMD officials said that the presence of easterly winds during the day was causing the temperatures to stay on the higher side. However, the northerly winds in the early morning brought down minimum temperatures.
