Mumbai crime branch tries to verify viral video of wanted accused in Baba Siddique’s murder | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The city crime branch is trying to ascertain the contents of a video featuring Zeeshan Akhtar, a wanted prime suspect in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, that has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Akhtar claims that Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti helped him flee India and now he is “far away from Asia”. He also issues threats to his adversaries in the video.
The crime branch, however, suspects that Akhtar is still in the country and initial assessments suggest that the video may have been recorded domestically. Recent intelligence indicates that Akhtar made extortion calls in Punjab last month.
Akhtar, Shubham Lonkar and Anmol Bishnoi — brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi — have been evading arrest since Siddique’s assassination in Bandra on Oct 12, 2024. Prior to the murder, Akhtar and Lonkar were reportedly spotted in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
