Mumbai Cop Arrested for Forging Payslip to Secure ₹26.5 Lakhs Loan | Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: A police constable who submitted a forged and exaggerated payslip of the Mumbai police to procure a loan of ₹26.50 lakhs from the police cooperative housing society was arrested by the Mumbai police.
The Bhoiwada police on Thursday arrested Police Constable Suraj Dhokle under the IPC sections of cheating, forgery, and breach of trust. Police said that Dhokre was placed under suspension.
The complaint in the case was filed by Varsha Bhopatkar, who is in the clerical department and works as Deputy Manager of the Mumbai Police Employee’s Salary Co-operative Credit Society.
According to the complaint, Constable Dhokre, a member of the credit society since July 31, 2020, applied for a loan on August 30, 2023. His loan application was approved based on a July 2023 payslip that stated his gross salary as ₹97,499. However, during the verification process, it was discovered that the actual gross salary was ₹79,794, significantly lower than the amount declared. However, his guarantor’s advocate informed the society that Dhokre’s salary was forged.
Following this, the society wrote to the finance department of the police force and sought his actual payslip, and they were shocked to see the discrepancies. The society committee immediately held a meeting and decided to lodge a cheating complaint; otherwise, it would set a precedent. MSID:: 115811340 413 |
