MUMBAI: City Congress minority cell‘s vice-chairman Haji Mudassar Patel celebrated his 45th birthday on July 9 by distributing textbooks for class 11 and 12 students.
Through YAMA Patel Foundation, in association with World Memon Organisation (India Chapter), Patel distributed textbooks among around 1000 needy and deserving students in the city. The textbooks were for students in all the three (Arts, Commerce and Science) streams.
Patel who is also president of YAMA Patel Foundation and Mumbai chapter chairman of WMO said that he has been celebrating his birthday by distributing books among college students since 2020.
“The purpose is to send out a message that we should cut down on lavish celebrations and utilise the funds for education of the deserving students. I do it with the simple aim to encourage students for study. Nobody should be deprived of education,” said Patel.
He added that education is the key to progress and we should not ignore it. The whole idea of celebrating birthday with distribution of books among deserving students is to set an example and let people understand the value of education. Education undeniably opens many doors of opportunities and everyone should strive to ensure that the underprivileged are not left uneducated due to poverty.
On this occasion WMO (India chapter) president Haseen Aghadi lauded Haji Mudassar Patel’s efforts and said that it is exemplary that he celebrates his birthday like this. “Haji Mudassar Patel does a great noble work as books are invaluable assets and he gives free textbooks to deserving students who will get educated and move ahead in life. This will help build a good educated and healthy society,” Aghadi said.
It is a good gesture that every year for the last many years, Patel, also called the good Samaritan of Mahim, ensures that his birthday is celebrated through book distribution.
