Mumbai: Seven hours after 52 unauthorised shops in the flower market area along Bhandarkar Road and Matunga railwaystation were demolished by the BMC, many of them were back albeit operating without a roof.
Early on Thursday, BMC cracked down on 52 unauthorised shops. The civic body said that the action was due to widespread encroachments on sidewalks and roads, as well as unauthorised constructions in the vicinity.
Unauthorised street vendors were also evicted during the drive.
Meanwhile, an unauthorised building in the Darane House area (Christian Pada) of Madh Island, within the P North Ward of BMC, was demolished on Thursday. This included the ground floor and three additional floors.tnn
