This action follows a petition seeking a CBI probe, challenging a previous court order that dismissed the request to transfer the case from the Lokayukta police.

NEW DELHI: The Karnataka high court on Wednesday issued notices to chief minister Siddaramaiah and his wife, BM Parvathi, in connection with a petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam.
The notice was issued in response to a petition filed by Snehamayi Krishna, who challenged the court’s earlier order dismissing his request for transferring the case from the Lokayukta police to the CBI.
The court had, in February, rejected the plea stating that the Lokayukta investigation did not appear to be biased or conducted with mala fide intent.
In its earlier ruling, the high court had observed that a CBI probe, as sought by the petitioner, was not necessarily a remedy for all grievances raised and found no grounds to question the impartiality of the ongoing investigation.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities in the allotment of alternative sites by MUDA, with Siddaramaiah named as the prime accused and his wife, Parvathi, as the second accused.
According to the allegations, the chief minister is accused of misusing his official position to obtain compensation in the form of 14 residential sites in his wife’s name in exchange for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land acquired by MUDA.
The case is currently under investigation by the Karnataka Lokayukta police.
