Patna: The fourth session of the inaugural day at Bihar Business Connect 2024, focused on ‘Opportunities for MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) and startups in Bihar,’ showcased inspiring entrepreneurial stories alongside expert advice on facing challenges in business.
Azhar Iqubal, co-founder and chairman of Inshorts, encouraged budding entrepreneurs to avoid striving for perfection and instead focus on initiating their ventures and maintaining momentum. “Never try to be a perfectionist. Just start by following your ideas and dreams, which is the most vital point in the process and keep on moving without worrying about the results,” said Iqubal, sharing experience from his own entrepreneurial journey. Originally from Kishanganj, Iqubal, now a successful entrepreneur in New Delhi, stressed the importance of dreaming big and moving forward.
During a panel discussion on ‘Strategies to develop startups and MSMEs’, experts like Anubha Prasad (regional head of the Small Industries Development Bank of India), Payal Ganguly (managing editor, Your Story) and Bandana Preyasi (secretary of the state industries department) highlighted the govt’s efforts to support the growth of startups and MSMEs through initiatives such as easy financing and funding opportunities for small entrepreneurs. “The govt is providing targeted assistance to encourage ventures that align with the interests and needs of budding entrepreneurs,” Preyasi said.
Amardeep Kumar, managing director of Morang Desh Agarbatti and a successful MSME entrepreneur, shared his experience in transforming the incense stick industry. “Now, we are innovating with eco-friendly materials like flowers and attempting to shift the base of incense sticks from rural to urban areas to give them a more corporate touch,” said Kumar, adding that his venture has also generated employment for many people.
Experts highlighted the role of the MSME sector, which contributes 29% to India’s gross domestic product (GDP) and serves as the largest employer of women. They also highlighted its role as a bridge between rural and urban economies.
