Mumbai: While MVA leaders have declared that Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) would contest the assembly elections jointly and talks for a seat-sharing formula were in progress, the MPCC on Friday invited applications from party aspirants from all 288 assembly constituencies.
With approval of MPCC president Nana Patole, MPCC vice-president Nana Gawande has sent the MPCC circular to all district and taluka presidents.According to Gawande, an aspirant will have to pay Rs 20,000 as party fund either in cash or by demand draft before Aug 10; in case of SC, ST or women candidates, the amount will be Rs 10,000. Applications will have to be deposited in MPCC head office or with the district committee. A leader said the party is assessing the situation in all 288 seats in the event it decides to contest independently. “It is Plan B, it is usual practice to collect party fund during the Lok Sabha and assembly elections,” the leader said.
