Mohan Charan Majhi: Odisha CM Announces Aid, Job for Family of Pahalgam Terror Attack Victim | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced Rs 20 lakh financial assistance and a govt job for the family of Prasant Satpathy, the Odia tourist who was killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The CM, who attended Satpathy’s last rites at Isani village in Balasore district, also assured that the state govt would bear all educational expenses of the deceased’s son.
“The state stands firmly with Prasant’s family in this hour of grief. Besides financial assistance, we will ensure his wife gets a govt job and his son receives quality education,” Majhi said while addressing the media after meeting the bereaved family.
Strongly condemning the terrorist attack, the CM called it an “extremely inhumane and cowardly act” and expressed confidence that the central govt under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership would take appropriate action against the perpetrators.
Earlier in the day, Majhi visited Satpathy’s residence in Isani village of Remuna block, where he spent about 20 minutes consoling the family members. He offered floral tributes to the departed soul and joined the funeral procession to the cremation ground.
Satpathy was killed when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam region. His body was brought to his native village on Thursday morning.
