Chennai: The executive and working committees of Makkal Needhi Maiam, floated by actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, convened under his leadership and resolved to evolve strategies and launch preparatory work to successfully face the 2026 TN assembly polls.
A release from the party said the leader held detailed discussions with executives on the election slated for next year at the party’s headquarters on Saturday in Alwarpet.
The meeting, which lasted for about two hours, was attended by party vice-presidents A G Maurya and R Thangavelu, general secretary A Arunachalam, members of the executive committee and working committee, and special invitees.
MNM, which contested the 2021 assembly poll alone, drew a blank. The party, however, extended support to DMK-led alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls but was not offered a seat.
MNM was promised a Rajya Sabha seat. The DMK alliance won all 39 seats in the state in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
