MLA blames BRS for tunnel collapse | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Congress legislator from Devarakonda, Balu Naik Nenavath, on Friday blamed the previous BRS govt for the tunnel collapse accident in the SLBC tunnel in Nagarkurnool.
“If only the former BRS govt cleared electricity dues, the water from the tunnel would have been cleared. As the water accumulated without being removed, it led to the accident,” Balu Naik said in the assembly.
Speaking on the budget, the MLA said the project, which was conceived during the previous Congress rule, progressed but work on 11 km out of the 43 km long tunnel remained incomplete. The BRS govt neglected the project and spent no money on it.
“Even pending electricity bills were not cleared, as a result of which the dewatering could not be done,” he said. The MLA also said the BRS made only claims about improving road infrastructure. He said the BRS govt took up the Kaleshwaram project but neglected irrigation projects in South Telangana.
