Miscreants Open Fire at Nandankanan Express in Odisha; No Injuries Reported | Bhubaneswar News
Bhubaneswar: Miscreants allegedly opened fire and hurled metal objects at Anand Vihar-Puri Express, also known as Nandankanan Express, in Bhadrak district on Tuesday. No casualty or injury was reported.
According to sources, two gunshots were heard which broke the window pane of the guard van of the Nandankanan Express (Train No. 12816) at approximately 9:30 am between Bhadrak and Baudpur section. The train runs between New Delhi and Puri. East Coast Railway officials confirmed that an investigation into the incident has commenced. The train was inspected and authorised to proceed around 10:30 am, sources added.
ECoR in a statement mentioned that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been directed to attend to the train and coordinate with Government Railway Police (GRP) and local police in the incident. Local police and GRP also examined the tracks for evidence later. “The Railway Protection Force has secured the train and escorted it up to Puri. The matter is now under investigation by GRP,” the statement read. TNN
