Miscreants loot Rs 1cr jewellery in midnight heist | Bhubaneswar News

Balasore: Five armed miscreants broke into the house of a jewellery shop owner in Praharajpur village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district on Wednesday night, looting valuables worth over Rs 1 crore. The victim, Sanjay Kumar Sahu, owns a shop in Tudigadia market and brings his stock home after closing his store at night.
The robbery took place around 2:30 am when criminals, with their faces covered, forcibly entered Sahu’s residence by breaking through two grills and a door. They held him at gunpoint, assaulted him, and threatened to kill him if he resisted. His mother, wife, and daughter were also brutally beaten up when they raised an alarm before the miscreants tied up the entire family and locked them in a room.
Upon receiving the complaint, Khaira police launched an investigation with the help of a scientific team and dog squad. Police officials are also reviewing CCTV footage and interrogating suspects in the area. “We suspect local involvement and are working on strong leads. The culprits will be arrested soon,” said IIC, Khaira police station, Pramod Kumar Das.
