Hyderabad: An unidentified man who approached a woman on the pretext of water, snatched her 2.5-tola gold chain by entering the house in Kukatpally housing board. The incident, which was captured by CCTV, went viral.
Police said that when the woman, Anjali, was cleaning the ramp of her house, a stranger, who was covering his face with a monkey cap, approached her seeking water around 6am on Wednesday.
When the woman walked into the house to fetch water, the accused followed her without her knowledge. On seeing that Anjali was inside the house, he too got in and snatched a chain from around her neck. Though she tried to resist the stranger’s move and even raised an alarm, the miscreant managed to steal the gold chain before fleeing from the location.
The victim followed him, but in vain. Later, her family alerted police, who reached the house and verified the footage. KPHB police have launched an investigation into the case.
