Ara: A 12-year-old girl from a locality under the Town police station area of Ara was allegedly raped and brutally murdered by her 40-year-old neighbour, whom she innocently referred to as “chacha”, on Monday evening. The accused was beaten by enraged locals before police rescued him. He is now under police custody and receiving medical treatment at Ara Sadar Hospital.
“We had sent our daughter to buy flour from a nearby shop. When she returned, she told us that the accused had called her to his house for some work. After a long time when she didn’t come back, we went to his house. He pretended not to know anything about her. With the help of neighbours, we entered his home and found my daughter, raped and murdered,” the girl’s father said.
