Berhampur: A miniature artist in Berhampur carved out from wood images of eight eminent Odia leaders and the Sun Temple in Konark on the occasion Odisha Divas on Tuesday.
Satya Moharana carved out the images of former chief ministers like Hare Krushna Moharana (with a height of 3.2 cm), Nandini Satapathy (2.7 cm), Nabakrushna Choudhury (3.5 cm), Biju Patnaik (2.7 cm), freedom fighter Annapurna Moharana (2.7 cm), Sashibhusan Rath (3.2 cm), Birsa Munda (2.8 cm) and Harihar Das (3.2 cm). “I made miniature sculptures to highlight the contribution of these personalities to Odisha. I also carved the Konark temple (of 4.7 cm height), which is a matter of pride for the state,” Moharana said.
He displayed these images at his workshop near Gandhi Nagar.
Moharana said he took around a day to make these images by carving out gambhari wood. “The youngsters, specially, should know about such leaders’ contribution to the formation of present day Odisha and in the country’s freedom struggle,” he added.
